Frequently asked questions
In our private consultation room, the team assesses individual needs, recommends replacement options such as wigs, toppers and/or toupees These solutions are presented as effective ways to manage alopecia, hair loss and thinning.
The first phone call and 1st salon visit are acknowledged as the hardest steps. Once clients attend our salon in Sligo, they typically feel relief and delight, making the initial effort worthwhile.
Contact the salon to arrange a private consultation or treatment in the private room. Expect a discreet support of environment with personalised recommendations to you.
Yes, we provide private consultations where we discuss your needs, concerns, and the best options for you. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident. We have a plethora of wigs for you to feel and see in person as well as the full catalogue of wigs that can be custom ordered in for you!
When you arrive to our salon, at your appointment time, you will be warmly greeted by our staff. They will show you down to the private consutation room and of course you will be offered refreshments. Marian will then greet you and begin with the consultation, discussing exactly what you are looking for. You will see some examples and get to try them on if anything is peeking your interest. Then Marian will run through some of the paperwork with you (don't worry, you won't hear the whole ins and outs just a general overview)
Our aim is that you leave this consultation with a clearer view of what you want as well as the steps forward. We hope you leave here happy and content as well as a little relived.
Absolutely! We understand this can be quite scary and overwhelming, so we love to see you bringing someone with you for emotional support! Also, if you don't want to bring anyone... that's totally fine too! Marians warm personality will make you feel right at home with her!
Hair thinning: refers to the gradual loss of hair density, often due to age and hormonal changes or stress.
Alopecia is a broader term for hair loss, which could be partly or complete, and may be caused by an autoimmune condition, medical treatments or other factors.
It depends on the cause. Some types of hair loss like chemotherapy induced hair loss or hair loss caused by stress or illness are only temporary, while conditions like androgenic alopecia, which is genetic hair loss may be progressive.
We recommend that those who experience hair loss or hair thinning come for consultation as soon as possible. The reason we advise this is so that we can assess your scalp and hair to find the best solution for you.
Also, the longer you leave it, the more difficult you might find it to come in, in addition to making it more difficult to conceal your hair loss without it becoming obvious to friends and family.
Hair pieces can be attached over very fine or thinning hair with gate clips or double sided tape, depending on the extent of hair loss. The piece sits on the head and is not tight or warm but does conceal limp hair or roots showing through the hair. It gives the person the perfect outer cover for her while allowing them to use the ends of their still existing hair.
For diffuse thinning hair, a sprinkle of hair fibres or camouflage creams colour the scalp to the colour of the hair that not only camouflages the colour of the scalp shone through but also creates the illusion of thicker hair.
Absolutely. We have a variety of wigs designed for full hair loss, including medical grade wigs that are lightweight, breathable and comfortable for sensitive sensitive scalps.
Treatments are provided in a private room for discretion and comfort.
Services can include scalp calming and cleansing, stimulation of hair growth, moisturising and rebuilding weak or damaged hair, and organic permanent hair colour that nourishes while colouring.

No, regardless of how much you spend the HSE will only approve once per year for each product, meaning they will only approve for your wig once a year, regardless the cost. The HSE provide maximum monetary values towards a predefined number of products. (1 x wig)
Your allowance can only be claimed once per year and must be at least 12 months since your last approval. For example, the HSE approved your wig application on the 1st of May 2025, meaning you can then claim again on or after the 1st of May 2026.
This application date is not based on the dates you received the items, or the date we sent in the application to HSE. Instead, it is based on the date the HSE processed and approved your application. Depending on the HSE office, some applications are processed within a few hours of sending them, but others may take weeks.
Yes, you may purchase from our website using your HSE allowance. You'll need a prescription/ letter from your doctor, itemising the items you need. You can upload at checkout when you choose the HSE payment.
Tip! you can only claim once for a week, so if you don't spend the full allowance we cannot claim again later that year.
An Allergy Alert Test checks to see if you are allergic to the ingredients in the products we use to colour hair. We ask all of our clients to have one and won’t colour their hair without one.
We would only be able to do a colour service forty eight hours after the skin test, provided there is no reaction.
Professional products contain more highly concentrated and higher-grade ingredients. This makes them last longer as you need a much smaller amount than non-professional products, and the quality of hair they produce is far superior to their cheaper counterparts.
We have a tiered price system where you pay for the level of Stylist that you see. A Stylist’s level is determined by their experience, skill and popularity.
In order to secure your ideal appointment time, please be sure to book your appointment 6-8 weeks in advance. Dates can be changed up to 48 hours if needed.
You can book here.
We request a minimum of 24 hours / 1 days notice for cancellations in order to fill the appointment space with someone from our waiting list.
